Counseling + Wellness

Mental Health Counseling

Ascent provides mental health outpatient counseling for youth up to age 18 at the activity center as well as schools in Cowlitz County. Clients are assigned a mental health counselor following an initial intake assessment to guide treatment and recovery.

Substance Use Counseling

Our goal is to empower youth to make better choices in the present, and build healthier futures without the negative impacts of drugs or alcohol. We offer both individual therapy alongside group therapy and Vaping Prevention Education. We continue to strive to meet the client where they are at whether that be in office, school, community or by Telehealth.

Peer Support Counseling

In addition to a client’s mental health counselor, a peer counselor offers addition support outside of therapy sessions integrating life skills and modeling. Peer support is a hopeful, recovery oriented service that can be provided to people with mental health and chemical dependency life challenges. Peer support uses hope, recovery, resiliency and lived experience as fuel to assist others down the path to their vision of “better”.

Psychiatry

Medication management is a part of your outpatient treatment that involves the initial evaluation of the patient’s need for medications, and ongoing monitoring of the medication by a qualified CORE Health prescriber. It requires a thorough review of prescribed drugs and their possible side effects to create treatment plans and monitor their safety and efficacy.

GROUP THERAPY

Ascent offers group therapy and wellness support groups in the community and at the activity center. These groups focus on developing communication and socialization skills and allows clients to learn how to express themselves and accept others. Group therapy gives individuals the opportunity to practice self-awareness by listening to others and understanding that they are not alone.
